Lee’s Christmas Radio Programmes – Part Two

Merry Christmas!

“And welcome back to your Christmas listening with Lee B on UpAndHappy!”

In part one of my Christmas programmes you could hear my original ‘Christmas Number One’s programmes from 2004 and 2008.

Now it’s time to get some Muppet action!

Here’s a selection of a couple of Muppets Christmas Specials, followed by Christmas with The Beatles, both of which I produced for broadcast over the festive period during the late 2000s. The idea is simply that the music does the talking, and because they can be listened to at any time during any Christmas period it makes a nice change from all of the usual Christmas songs!

Once again, if you like the sound of any of them, then perhaps they can be an alternative choice of listening during any of the festive days, after all, that’s what they were made for!

In Part Three: the original “UpAndHappy!” Radio Show Christmas Specials…

Christmas Eve on Sesame Street (2008)

“Christmas Eve on Sesame Street” was originally a special edition of the Children’s Television Workshop programme “Sesame Street”, first broadcast in December 1978. In 2008 I produced a special radio version of the programme, bringing together the original TV soundtrack and a special narrated version of the story as released on LP in the 70s. And then if you now feel like watching it (and its well worth doing that) then it’s on DVD

The Muppets at Christmas (2008)

I’ve always loved Jim Henson’s Muppets. I first saw Kermit the Frog and all his friends in The Muppet Show when I was 3 years old.

Over the years, The Muppets have produced so many Christmas TV Shows and Films that I thought it would be a great idea to gather together as many of the featured songs as I could and just let them play.

So this programme from 2008 is a Muppetational Mix of 90 minutes worth of Muppetastic (OK, no more of those weird words) Music and Merriment!

How many of them do you know the words to…?

And for the last half hour of the second part, there’s a special retelling of the classic tale of ‘The Snowman’, read by Bernard Cribbins.

Christmas with The Beatles (2008)

This simple but very special programme takes the listener on a lovely chronological trip right through the 1960s with each of The Beatles’ Christmas messages (via the official Beatles Fan Club records) coupled with each of their Christmas Number One singles.

Have a very Merry Christmas with John, Paul George and Ringo!
